IU5 will provide ESL services to Warren County School District throughout the 2020-2021 school year. The 2020-2021 hourly rate $55.07 is a 2% increase ($1.24/hour) from the 2019-2020 contract.
The Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit 5 (IU5) offers English as a Second Language (ESL) services for English Language Learners (ELLs). Services provided will assist member districts in meeting some of the requirements for their ESL program and support compliance with existing state and federal regulations. The lU5’s ESL services include referral/intake, screening/assessment of language proficiency, individual or small group direct instruction, staff development, supervision, logistics/scheduling, alignment with school curriculum, and instructional and professional resources.

SUGGESTED MOTION: That the Board of School Directors approves the purchases of eligible equipment using up to $24,611 of Supplemental Equipment Grant funding received for the 2019-20 school year, thereby fully expending the additional funds allocated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

The 2019-20 Supplemental Equipment Grant was initially brought to the board for approval on February 20, 2020. At that time, the administration proposed using $7,738 to purchase a 12,000 lb. automotive lift and other eligible equipment. The Pennsylvania Department of Education has since allocated an additional $24,611 in funds for additional equipment needs at the Warren County Career Center. The administration requests permission to purchase three (3) pieces of welding equipment for the WCCC under COSTAR contract 008-385, plus any additional items required by programs at the WCCC, not to exceed the $24,611 in additional grant funds.
