Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP (“SSKW”) will provide the following services to the Warren County School District (“District”) during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years: (1) telephone and electronic mail advice and opinions concerning special education, NCLBA compliance, student services, and student civil rights issues to the administrator or administrators designated by the District as the contact; (2) electronic mail opinions and advice, policies, guidelines, forms and worksheets, handouts and outlines, and other material of universal applicability or interest will be shared with the SSKW pool counsel community; and (3) members-only access to our pool counsel “resource room” library of past opinions at www.sweetstevens.com.

The administration is preparing to submit the Elementary And Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund II (ESSER II) application in the amount of $6,079,074.00. Please find below a brief description of the district is proposing that ESSER II monies be spent in conjunction with local funds.
The Warren County School District (WCSD) will analyze state and local achievement data, review perceptual survey data from teachers, students, and parents, and compile Child Study, special education referrals, and mental health and behavioral referrals, to identify academic, social-emotional, mental health, and additional needs. Input from stakeholders such as administrators and teachers, students, parents, school nurses, school support personnel, and/or outside agencies will be considered when addressing student needs.
To meet those identified needs, the WCSD will:
1) Provide additional staff, resources, and support for students enrolled in summer programming, COVID Compensatory Services, Credit Recovery, and tutoring.
2) Increase virtual learning staff, class-size reduction teachers, MTSS supports, and provide additional paraprofessionals to strategically address learning gaps.
3) Task curriculum specialists with analyzing the scope and sequence of the district curriculum as it aligns with student progress and gaps.
4) Analyze the curriculum used by the WCSD Virtual Academy curriculum for alignment to the state standards.
5) Increase the availability and use of in-school behavioral health services, school counseling, vocational student support services, and truancy interventions.
6) Provide an ELA tutor for students at the Warren County Career Center.
7) Purchases textbooks and technology identified by the WCSD 7-Year Plans.
8) Hire an electrician and technology positions to support ESSER-related purchases and activities.
9) Provide a project management and staff accountant position to oversee ESSER fund expenditures and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
