Recommended Action :
Motion:1. That the Board of School Directors approves the adapted planned instruction for school year 2007-2008 to improve instruction for all students at Beaty-Warren Middle and to comply with the Terms of NCLB and the corrective action plan.
2. That the Board of School Directors exempts Beaty-Warren Middle School from Policy 9190, Middle Level Course Sequence, for the 2007-2008 school year. Beaty-Warren Middle School will follow the Middle Level Course Sequence outlined in the 2007-2008 NCLB Corrective Action Plan.
3. That the Board of School Directors approves the textbooks and instructional materials recommended by the Language Arts Curriculum Review Committee and the BWMS Staff and approved by the Superintendent to support Pennsylvania Academic Standards, and the BWMS's NCLB Corrective Action Plan. Funding for the material will come from the 2007-2008 WCSD Budget Accounts for textbooks, instructional materials and additional equipment. No more than $40,000 will be expended.
4. That the Board of School Directors directs the administration to implement a pilot program at Beaty-Warren Middle School for the school year 2007-2008 titled "Beaty-Warren Middle School No Child Left Behind AYP Corrective Action Plan."
5. That the Board of School Directors adopts the following resolution of support for the Beaty-Warren Middle School administrators, teachers, parents and students:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Beaty-Warren Middle School has surpassed the Federal, State and District standards in 16 of 17 of the No child left Behind sub-groups; and
WHEREAS, the No Child Left Behind - Reading - IEP sub-groups did not demonstrate proficiency in reading; and
WHEREAS, the Beaty-Warren Middle School faculty has developed a No Child Left Behind Corrective Action Plan with the goal of improving instruction and learning achievement for all Beaty-Warren Middle School students.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of School Directors commends and extends appreciation to the Beaty-Warren Middle School administrators, teachers, parents and students for their efforts and commitment to achieving high academic expectations.
ADOPTED as a Resolution of the Warren County School District this 11th day of October, 2007.
